Failure Drop — Mistfall Hunter Death Penalty Mechanic
How Failure Drop works in Mistfall Hunter — everything you brought into the map is at risk on death, with a few protected slots like Pipi's Safe Pack and Keyring.
Failure Drop
Failure Drop is a Mistfall Hunter death penalty mechanic. It governs what happens to your kit when your hunter dies inside a map. It is the counterpart to Extraction: if you fail to extract, Failure Drop decides the cost.
The rule
After killing an enemy, you can loot every item from their body. On death, the same rule applies in reverse: you lose every item you were carrying into the map. There are no partial refunds and no insurance roll — the wipe is total by default.
Protected slots
A handful of slots are carved out of Failure Drop and stay with you through death:
- Pipi's Safe Pack — the dedicated protected inventory slot. See Pipi's Safe Pack.
- Keyring — high-value quest keys that bind on pickup and never drop on death.
Anything stored in those slots is the only loot guaranteed to make it back to stash.
How it ties into the other paths
Failure Drop sits between the two main outcomes of a run:
- Success path — extract alive with your kit. See Extraction.
- Retreat path — disengage from a PvP fight before the kill confirms. See Two-Strike Disengage.
If neither path lands, Failure Drop is the cost.
