Mistfall Hunter Multiplayer — Co-op, Crossplay & Party Sizes
Mistfall Hunter party size, crossplay status, map scaling, party composition recommendations, and the four extraction methods in co-op play.
Mistfall Hunter Multiplayer
Co-op, crossplay, party composition, scaling, and the multiplayer-only mechanics — verified against the Steam page, the official Discord, and the community's first-week patch notes.
Party basics
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Party size | 1–3 players (solo, duo, trio) |
| Party formation | Set at the camp before queuing; matchmaking respects party size |
| Crossplay | Single ecosystem on Steam at launch; console crossplay not announced |
| Voice | Native proximity voice is off by default; push-to-talk supported in camp |
| Shared progression | Camp upgrades and stash are per-account, not per-party |
You can change your party at the camp between runs. A solo queue drops you into a server with other solo players; duos and trios match against other parties of the same size.
Recommended party compositions
Three launch-day compositions that have held up through the first two weeks of community testing.
The standard trio (recommended)
- Frontline: Withered Knight (Greatsword or Spear-and-Shield) — parry reads, team shields, stagger value.
- Support: Seer (Catalyst) — healing, shielding, Construct Rune placement.
- Burst DPS: Sorcerer (Elemental) — AoE damage, escape tools, area control.
This trio has the best scaling into dungeons and the cleanest answer to coordinated PvP ganks. It is the composition most launch-day tier lists converged on.
The kiting duo
- Range: Blackarrow (Hunter or Archer's Arrow) — infinite arrows, sightline pressure.
- Cleanup: Shadowstrix (dual-blade or dagger) — picks off anyone who closes on the Blackarrow.
Strong for solo-queue duos that want to avoid direct engagements. Both classes have reset tools — the Blackarrow kites, the Shadowstrix repositions with stealth.
The bruiser trio
- Tank: Mercenary (Hammer or Sword-and-Shield) — easiest kit, highest HP.
- Bruiser 2: Withered Knight (Greatsword) — second melee with parry.
- Flex: Sorcerer (Elemental) for ranged burst when the bruisers are tied up.
Frontline-heavy; weaker into ranged kiting comps but very forgiving for newer players.
Map scaling — what changes in a party
Difficulty scales with party size in two ways: enemy HP / damage rises, but drop tables improve and the high-tier loot gates open earlier. The two launch maps behave differently:
Sacred Grove — beginner-friendly map
- Modes: Normal (blue gear cap) and Chaos (gold gear, harder monsters, better loot).
- Match length: ~21 minutes per run.
- Chaos entry cost: ≥ 800 Gold Dust (roughly a full green gear set).
- Scaling: Tame in Normal, sharp in Chaos. Solo Chaos is doable but slow; party Chaos is the intended difficulty.
Brand stronghold — advanced map
- Modes: Normal and Chaos.
- Match length: Variable, with a shrinking poison ring.
- Scaling: Aggressive — elites hit hard even in Normal, and the ring forces constant repositioning. Best played in a coordinated party.
Multiplayer-only mechanics
Crown-mark quests
Special map objectives marked with a crown icon. Crown quests scale much harder than standard quests — they are designed for coordinated trios and are a poor pickup for solo or duo players unless you know the encounter.
Ghost ship extraction — Chaos only
A party-only extraction channel in Chaos mode Sacred Grove:
- Earn a "soul line" — obtained by downing another player and finishing them off.
- Collect two soul lines total per extraction.
- Find the ghost shipwright on the map and interact to extract.
Soul lines do not carry out of the run — they only count toward the current extraction. This is the intended high-risk, high-reward exit for Chaos trios.
Bell-extraction defense (Bell Tree / Return Chime)
When a party rings a bell to extract, the bell audio is global — every other player on the map hears it and can rush the portal. Plan an extraction defense (one player on portal, two on lookout) rather than ringing and standing still.
Crossplay status
| Platform | Crossplay | Source |

| Steam ↔ Xbox | Not announced | — |
The wiki will update this section as soon as the studio confirms a console partner.
Party etiquette & comms
A short list of community-tested norms:
- Call bell extractions early — "ringing in 15" gives the team time to set up a perimeter.
- Deposit before you push — purple and gold items go in the safety box first, always.
- Trade on the camp — vendor prices beat merchant prices by ~2× once the trading post hits level 5.
- Don't split the party in Chaos — the ring collapses fast and solo regroups cost runs.
